Where to stay in Egypt?

The vast majority of tourists go to the land of the pharaohs with a travel agency. As part of such an offer overnight stay in Egypt we already have usually provided, this does not mean, however, that we should not take a moment to thoroughly check it and read the opinions of other travelers.

Don't travel blind

Today, when travel websites and forums are bursting with news and comments exchanged on a regular basis, we really don't have to accept a blind trip. So let's not stop at the photo and description hotel as seen in the travel agency folder.

Accommodation search engines

using accommodation search engines (many of them are already available in the Polish language version), we can easily locate the hotel we are interested in, see how other tourists rated it, get acquainted with all the interesting facts about the place, and sometimes even with his actual photos.

It is worth checking e.g.. how many meters is the hotel swimming pool actually in, for it is no secret, that in professional photos, individual objects are presented at this angle, so that they look as good as possible.

Travel forums

They are also a rich source of information and individual opinions travel forums. Skilful searching for information, and, above all, browsing (often anonymous) subjective perceptions of other users, however, it is not an easy matter and there are also some pitfalls here.

First: let's not go crazy. Many people browsing through the mass of comments come to the conclusion, it's ugly everywhere, dirty and too expensive.

We have to remember, that every person is different and has different travel needs. Some people only need a bed and a tap when looking for accommodation, because they are focused on active sightseeing, others plan to spend their holidays on the premises hotel complex, by the pool and with a drink in hand, so they are looking for luxuries.

Let us not get discouraged too easily, but also leave a small margin for possible surprises and remember, that a successful vacation depends mainly on our attitude, and not the size of the pool.

Asterisks

When looking for the perfect accommodation in Egypt, we must remember a few rules. First: The star system has different faces in different parts of the globe. The Egyptian standard is not the same as the European or American standard. In Poland, a hotel three star it's a very decent standard, in Egypt we can speak of such only with a minimum of four, preferably five whistles.

Egypt on its own

Of course, backpackers also go to Egypt, that is, people traveling on your own, with a backpack, without the agency of a travel agency.

People traveling this way are often on a tight budget and opt for hostels rather than luxury hotel complexes.

There are also these in Egypt, low-budget accommodation, however, you have to remember, that bed linen is not always available, bathrooms and kitchens are shared, and the rooms are small and modestly equipped. In places of this type, meals are usually served at an additional cost.

Although the accommodation offer in Egypt is large, it is always worth booking something in advance, so as not to wander, especially on arrival, from hostel to hostel.

Of course, the largest cities in the country are best prepared to welcome tourists, like for example. Cairo, Luxor or Alexandria and of course the resorts on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.

In the desert or on a ferry

Egypt also offers others, more original forms of accommodation. When we are going in a few days Cruise on the Nile, the role of the hotel will be played by a ship. Usually it houses: several decks, private cabins with bathrooms, restaurants, bars, shops, and even a swimming pool.

Or maybe you prefer a bit of adventure and spend the night in the desert? In Egypt it is possible! The price of an organized trip in the Egyptian desert usually includes: passing, meal and accessories necessary for accommodation in the open air (mattress, screen). We must also remember to take warmer clothes (at night in the desert, the temperatures drop significantly) and something, which will effectively protect us from wind and sand (caps, handkerchiefs).
